Welcome to the WTP Hall of Fame!

Nov 21, 2023

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We are thrilled to announce the 2023 Class entries into the World Tavern Poker Hall of Fame! These nine placements join the now 127-member Hall who have all earned this hallowed position over the nearly 20-year history of the league.

HUGE CONGRATS to the following players:

2023 WLPC Champion: MICHAEL MATTE, Canada S1-2023 National TOC Champion: ORIN WILLIAMS, Maryland S1-2023 National Champion: SHEILA MANNING, Tennessee S1-2023 National Points Champion: REGGIE JOHNSON, North Carolina S1-2023 National Cumulative Points Champion: GEORGETTE HENDRICKSEN, Virginia S1-2023 National Veterans Points Champion: REGGIE JOHNSON, North Carolina S2-2022 National Points Champion: DERRICK MORTON, North Carolina S2-2022 National Cumulative Points Champion: JACQUELINE PINNIX, Maryland S2-2022 National Veterans Points Champion: MIKE WILSON, North Carolina

Some amazing notes and stats with the 2023 WTP Hall of Fame class:

-- Sheila Manning is the first player from Tennessee to earn a HOF spot since Brandon Buschling in 2005...the first year of the league!

-- Reggie Johnson (NC) and Mike Wilson (NC) both join the Hall’s exclusive 3-Timers Club; only 7 players share that honor (the others are Christy Bowers, MD; Joe Motley, MD; David Andersen, NC; Steve Vogel, NJ; and Keith Foradori, VA).

-- Reggie Johnson (NC) is the first player to earn their way into the WTP Hall three different ways (National Champion, National Points Champion, National Veterans Champion). All of the other 25 multiple-time HOF'ers have earned their way in through one or two pathways (though some multiple times). Reggie is now just one leg away from becoming the first-ever WTP Grand Slam Hall of Famer!

-- By winning the 2023 WLPC Main Event, Michael Matte is the first Canadian-based player to earn a WTP Hall bid – BUT, he is not the first international-based player in the Hall! Alison Leivers from Great Britain won the WLPC Main Event in 2018, earning her spot in the HOF.

-- And finally, North Carolina – where WTP was founded in back in 2004 – continues to lead the league with 35 members in the WTP Hall of Fame. Maryland remains in second with 24 HOF'ers, while Virginia now has sole possession of third place with 20 HOF'ers. New Jersey is next with 19 HOF'ers; the next closest state is New York with 6 HOF'ers. In all, 15 states and two international countries have WTP HOF'ers!

Congrats again everyone – and welcome to the WTP Hall of Fame! 😊
